The Most Healthy Diet Contrary to what many people believe, the most healthy diet is not so much a list of what to eat as it is a list of foods to be avoided. What this means is that although you do frequently hear good stories about some of the following, you are better off without them 99% of the time: – red meat – most types of commercial bread & white flour in general – cheese – eggs – sugar, fructose, glucose syrup – most salad, spaghetti and other types of sauces – all fried foods – all fast food – alcohol (especially beer, a glass of wine is OK) – fizzy drinks including fizzy water Actually it is not as bad as it sounds as you can have all of this stuff 2 to 4 times per month (2 times if you eat a lot and 4 times if you eat small/normal portions. On the other hand the most healthy diet should include all of the following, preferably eaten raw, boiled or grilled without any added oils or sauces, except some extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil or linseed oil. – Tuna: This fish is the king of healthy foods with maximum protein and minimum bad fat and calories. – Salmon: is perhaps even better, although lower in protein, because it’s richer in beneficial oils and fats (omega-3). – Turkey: almost as good as fish above. – Veggies of all shorts – Substitute sugar and artificial sweeteners with stevia, the all-natural zero calorie sweetener. – Take the king of all food supplements: Krill oil, with superior omega-3 and astaxanthin content without the usual fish-oil contamination in heavy metals and PCBs. One significant problem with seafood today is its contamination with heavy metals (e.g. mercury and lead) and PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyls). A way to deal with such contamination in Salmon is to make sure you clean all skin and fat from the fish (buying filet may help towards that) and grilling it in a grill that lets the fat trickle off as the meat cooks. Do prefer fresh from canned fish as preservatives used in cans are also cancer promoting. Tuna is one of the fish that do not have as much mercury as other fish do. Still, mercury can be a problem if tuna is consumed very often. Using this calculator here to see how much mercury you’re getting: http://www.gotmercury.org/ As you can see, turning your diet into the most healthy diet is not that hard. One simply needs to change her shopping and eating habits. Thus, our shopping list should never include any of the above items mentioned in the first list above. Beyond that, it would be very helpful if we made it impossible to exercise certain habits. For instance one can literally throw frying pans and deep frying pots out; they are instruments of evil! Some other pointers: • Feel free to take high-quality preservative and chemical free protein and vitamin supplements. • Get your carbohydrates from boiled potatoes and whole-grain flour pastas • Do not eat carbs or fruits for up to 5 hours before sleep. • Eat a fruit like an apple when you get hungry between meals. • Eat dried fruits (e.g. dried figs) instead of sweets. • Avoid bananas! Although they are fruits they can get you fat. • Drink green and red tea as it improves metabolism. • Very hot (e.g. containing chili-peppers) foods also improve metabolism. Add some chili-powder on top of your whole-grain pasta and boiled tuna. If you follow the simple and easy to implement advice above you are sure to change your diet in the most healthy diet you can have. read more
